Key functions of the department:

• Developing the recruitment, selection, and promotion policies that govern the public service based on the public service regulations.
• Developing capacity to recruit, select, and promote suitable candidates in line with the constitutionally prescribed values and principles of the public service.
• Coordinating the implementation of policies and strategies on recruitment, selection, and promotion of civil servants.
• Coordinating the collation of recruitment plans in all public service institutions to initiate the formulation of work plans for the NCSC.
• Coordinating and providing support to enable recruitment, training, and transfer of knowledge and technology to departmental staff and the civil service in general.
